Kangi-e
Obon, July or August
Obon Service - July 11
Bon Odori (Dance) - July 10
Obon is an annual event to commemorate our ancestors.
Traditionally, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide the ancestors' spirits, obon dances (bon odori) are performed, and food offerings are made at house altars and temples.
Obon is also an occasion to rejoice in the awakening offered by the Buddha, and is also referred to as Kangi-e "Gathering of Joy".
